This site has a Poultry Poster Score Card and a Poultry Showmanship Score Card. Although we do not use these at our county fair, they can offer some guidance, especially to those who who plan to compete at the Indiana State Fair.

This is the website of the Gateway Poultry Association, Inc. They put on the poultry show at the Monroe County Fairgrounds every April. The site has dates, entry forms, etc.

This magazine is highly recommended to anyone who raises backyard poultry. For some good articles that can be read online, see back issues.

This site is great for learning about breeds of chickens. Please note that some of the breeds listed are NOT in the standard and could only be displayed (not judged) at the fair. This is the website of one of the poultry associations in the United States. The other is the ABA. Both the APA and the ABA license judges. The APA licenses for all waterfowl, turkeys and chickens.

The ABA is one of two poultry associations in the United States. The ABA licenses judges for bantam chickens and bantam ducks.

This is a site to get answers to any type of question relating to poultry. Be prepared for any kind of answer. Those who respond are usually very knowledgeable but their responses are sometimes tough to take.

This website gives the pros and cons of the most common types of incubators on the market. This is a great website if you are thinking about hatching or have already hatched.

This Hatchery offers over 140 varieties of chicks, bantams, turkeys, game birds, peafowl, waterfowl, guineas plus books, equipment, eggs, incubators, and medicine. Always check the Standard of Perfection to make sure that the breed and variety of the birds you are buying are recognized. Don't assume that the catalog is accurate.

Similar to Murray McMurray Hatchery. Always check the Standard of Perfection before ordering birds.

This hatchery does not have the variety that some of the bigger hatcheries offer. However, they keep all their breeder birds on-sight and they may have better quality. As with any hatchery, always check the Standard. One good tip to getting better show birds from a hatchery is to only get a couple breeds. That way you will have a better selection of each. In a batch, there are always one or two good ones, a lot of average ones, and a few really bad ones. More birds = More chance of getting the really good ones.
