Our first meeting of 2010 is Wed. January 6th at 6:30pm at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. We will decide on our 2010 meat animals and hand out the list of available poultry projects along with our club Constitution/By-laws. We are planning a "Dirty Santa" (White Elephant) game for the kids. You will need to bring a wrapped item ($5 or less) if you plan to participate. Club T-Shirt Project
A big thank you to Deb and everyone that helped with the T-shirt tie dye. The shirts were unique and beautiful.
2009 Workshop
A big thank you to everyone who volunteered to give a presentation at the "Getting Ready for the Fair" Workshop at our July 1 meeting! Demonstrations included how to properly wash a chicken (Claire), egg quality (Joey), beak and nail trimming (Reese), how to handle a bird for showmanship (Sarah), and how to do a general health check (Anne). Birds with lice or mite infestations or respiratory infections will be sent home as stated in the poultry rules. Blood testing was done before the meeting (John).
Poultry Day at the Farmer's Market
A big thank you to those 4-Hers and their families in the 4-H Poultry Club that volunteered their time to come and promote 4-H at the Bloomington Farmer's Market on Sat. May 23.
